Le Clafoutis Restaurant Is Permanently Closed

This was an early iteration of the Clafoutis Restaurant website. The site's domain expired around 2004 and new owners utilized the site for selling all sorts of clothing, lamp lighters, wristwatches and even navel uniforms. The domain's registration has had several owners. The current owner decided to return the site to its original iteration for nostalgic reasons, particularly now that the restaurant has permanently closed. We will miss you, Clafoutis.

After serving up French cuisine for the past 25 years in the center of Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood, Le Clafoutis has closed.

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Clafoutis Restaurant Review
gayot.com
This was L.A.'s answer to a Parisian bistro. A part of the hip Sunset Plaza scene, the sidewalk tables made a great spot for people-watching. Inside, it was not uncommon to find a famous face noshing in a quiet corner. The cuisine celebrated the sunny Mediterranean, with Provençal and Italian influences dominating. You’ld find a little bit of everything on the menu, from gazpacho to escargots to fried calamari, before moving on to grilled ahi, chicken in Dijon mustard sauce or a rib-eye with fries. Finally, you could opt for a cheese plate to finish off your bottle from the respectable wine list, then a soufflé or tarte au citron. For brunch, the quiche and crêpes were a treat, but the real draw here was the location. If there was a spot available, we chose the back balcony which boasts a bird's eye view of the city.

Le Clafoutis Has No More People To Watch on Sunset Strip

The sceney West Hollywood patio restaurant serving predictable French fare is suddenly gone from the Strip.
by Matthew Kang Oct 22, 2014
There are few places in town that just scream people-watching. Les Petit Four is one pick, and another is Le Clafoutis, which lived for 25 years on Sunset Strip with a large patio, just the kind of place that West Hollywood scenesters preferred to congregate on. The sad thing is that their Facebook page says that they'll be celebrating their 25th anniversary in late September.
Sadly commenters and even people passing by have noticed the papered up windows and disconnected phone line. Le Clafoutis is gone from this world, which means people watchers will only have Les Petit Four to enjoy on that stretch of Sunset Strip.

Le Clafoutis Turns Into Monaco-Backed Cali-Med Restaurant Avenue 31
by Farley Elliott May 29, 2015
There’s some new signage up on the former Le Clafoutis space along the glitzier part of the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. The longtime celeb-spotting haunt went down last fall, but an ABC license for the location resurfaced in March, pointing to a name, Sunset Kitchen, and a Miami-linked restaurateur named Stefano Frittella.

"Clafoutis is as close to a small Parisien Café I've found in L.A.".
  • Take plunge on wild side at Clafoutis
by Barbara Etaon -Eaton Alive -

Clafoutis is an eclectic trendy, youthful, new wave French Bistro with electricity and energy, reminiscent of a Parisian boulangerie.
The alcove has a magnificent view of Beverly Hills and, on a clear night, the rainbowed lights of Century City twinkle like stars over the horizon.
